Sharp aquos HDTV – a very good HDTV choice
Sharp’s latest Aquos appears a bit sharper than previous models of the past years, with a precise rectangular hard-edged panel, and a thin, perforated black strip for the speakers.
This TV uses a new power saving mode that needs to be activated manually through the menu. I prefer this way of selecting the modes – default settings should be as basic as possible.
If you select the advanced mode there is a room – lighting sensor, and in addition sensitivity can be adjusted on the room lighting sensor. And you can adjust the tv to turn off automatically after a set time period of inactivity.
A new and strong selling point these days is saving energy; the Sharp AquoS hdtv series is one of the most efficient televisions for their size, currently in the market. It has the Energy Star 3 compliance badge, and overall metrics and exerts opinions put it on the top of the ‘greenest’ products in the market.
Overall connectivity is excellent; a handful of HDMI inputs (five) most at the back, and one at the right side. Two component video, one VGA style PC, Rf for aerial / cable, one composite and one S video jacks. also, there is optical digital audio out. and analog stereo audio in. And an RS-232 connection. The USB port is for services only and bot for music and photographs.
So, on the positive side we have a series with accurate color, great connectivity, power saver, and very good styling. On the negative side we have a badging effect because of the backlight that is not distributed evenly, and lighter black color.
The series has a 46 inch model (video review above) and a 52 inch model; the only difference is on the size of the screen, otherwise the features are the same. Amazon customers give great reviews for the 46 inch model and very good reviews for the 52 inch model.
